LAS VEGAS, Nev. — December 17, 2025 — Z Athlete Group has secured a three-year lease for a 10-acre site located at Tropicana Avenue and Kelch Drive, just east of the MGM Grand and future A’s ballpark, establishing the temporary home for Las Vegas’ first indoor track. The lease, approved by the Nevada System of Higher Education’s Board of Regents at its December meeting, allows Z Athlete Group to move forward tthe pursuit opening the indoor building operating under a Temporary Use Permit.
The facility will include more than 100,000 square feet of competition space and a 200-meter banked portable track. Z Athlete Group is targeting completion in time for the Winter 2026 indoor track and field season. This facility will serve as the temporary home for indoor track in Las Vegas while Z Athlete Group advances planning and development of a permanent indoor track venue on a nearby site announced this past Fall.
Once operational, the venue is expected to become one of the fastest indoor track environments in the Southwest, serving athletes from Nevada, California, Arizona, Utah, and any market within a one- to two-hour flight.
“This project fills a major gap in the Western United States for indoor track and field,” said Zig Ziegler, Founder and CEO of Z Athlete Group. “Adding our AI technology gives athletes and collegiate programs an advanced indoor competition home in Las Vegas while we complete a permanent venue nearby.”
Next Steps
Z Athlete Group will immediately begin securing the portable building and obtaining the required Temporary Use Permit through Clark County, while finalizing site logistics, installation timelines, and event scheduling.
Competition and Event Programming
The indoor track will host youth, high school, collegiate, and club competitions, with the capability to support invitational, conference, and select national-level indoor meets.
Economic Impact
Based on projected participation of 3,000 to 5,000 athletes per weekend, with approximately 60% traveling from outside the region, the Winter 2026 indoor season is projected to generate approximately 22,000 to 36,000 hotel room nights over a 12-week period, plus additional impact from spectators, officials, and event staff.

This temporary installation represents the first phase of Z Athlete Group’s long-term vision to establish Las Vegas as a year-round destination for indoor track and field competition.
